A Great Start To The Year For Birmingham Landlords
29 January 2009
DESPITE the number of job losses in the financial sector of Birmingham, Accord Lets has reported an excellent start to the year with plenty of tenants looking for high quality property to rent.
"The first week of January was particularly busy, which was a surprise, and demonstrates that even though the city is going through a difficult time tenants are still looking for good quality properties and are prepared to pay a premium," said Carl Mimmack, founder and managing director of Accord Lets in West 2.
"As an example, just before Christmas we were commissioned to find tenants for 50 properties in one development and by the middle of January we had let 30 of them.
"The Orion/Syrius development is exceptionally successful and it takes only a few weeks to let the properties. The one-bedroom apartments are commanding up to £750 per calendar month and the two-bedroom apartments up to £900.
"There is no doubt the city is suffering from the credit crunch, but the loss of tenants from redundancies is being tempered by the numbers of people remaining in rented accommodation because they can't get a mortgage.
"Having specialised in residential letting for almost 20 years we provide an efficient service for landlords, tailored to their needs, and for tenants, which is why so many make us their first choice and as a result we have had a most encouraging start to the year".
