Accord Lets Challenges City Landlords

BIRMINGHAM landlords with properties lying empty have been challenged by the city's leading letting agency to let them find a tenant within 14 days - or receive up to £150 off the fees.

Just before Christmas is not traditionally a time of high demand for rented accommodation, and the credit crunch means less cash flowing this year, but Accord has been so successful at letting in recent months it has a shortage of properties on its books - and a queue of would-be tenants.

"We're pretty certain our money is safe," said Accord Lets' Managing Director, Carl Mimmack, who has been at the helm of the family-owned company for almost 20 years.

"But landlords win either way. If we let the property within two weeks the landlord no longer has a property earning him nothing. If we don't, for up to three weeks after the initial fortnight we knock £50 a week off the fees."

The challenge applies to properties listed with Accord during November (excluding the let only service).
